Every profile is verified before it goes live, and its photos are approved by a person. The selfie check confirms the person matches their own photos and is not proof of identity. ID, video and income checks are optional.
- Required on every profile, free or paid: an email code at sign-up, a selfie check with a liveness step compared against the member's own approved photos, and every photo approved by a person before anyone sees it. A profile is also filled in before it is shown.
- Optional, and only where a member completes it: a government ID, a video selfie and proof of income, each reviewed by our team and shown as a badge on the profile.
- The limit, stated plainly: the selfie check establishes photo consistency, that the person on camera matches their own approved photos. It is not proof of identity, and it verifies nothing a family has written about age, marital status, education, property or family standing.

How we check profiles
Families looking for verified matrimonial profiles in Delhi or abroad should know exactly what the word covers. At Evara Matrimony every profile is verified before it goes live, and a person approves its photos, free or paid, wherever the member lives. The photographs on every profile are checked. The selfie check is required before a profile appears; it matches the member to their own approved photos, and it is not proof of identity. Being verified does not mean identity is proven, and it does not mean any detail on a profile has been verified. A photo check establishes photo consistency and nothing else.
Verification lowers the risk. It is not a guarantee of any member's identity, intentions or information, and your own judgement still matters.
What stands behind each line of a checked profile
A checked profile is a set of claims. Our team has looked at some of them and most of them not, so it helps to read it line by line and ask what, if anything, stands behind each one.
The photographs. Before the profile appears, a person approves each photograph, and the selfie check matches the member to those approved photos. A selfie the automated match cannot clear goes to a person. None of this tells you the name of the person in them.
The name. A name is backed by something only where the member has completed the government ID check, in which case our team has matched the name and photograph to the document. We do not certify that the document itself is authentic, so treat a completed check as one reassurance among several, not as proof.
Education, work and income. Degrees and job titles are as the member wrote them. Nothing has been confirmed with an employer or an institution. Income proof is an optional upload, reviewed by our team and shown as a badge where completed.
Marital status, family and community. These are the family's own account. Gotra is not recorded on an Evara profile at all, so any question of gotra is one to raise with the family directly. Nobody checks these against documents, so an untrue account can still appear.
The family itself. On Reserve a senior relationship manager meets the family in person during the search, and on Luxe that meeting is arranged privately. That gives you one experienced person's judgement of the family, which is worth having, and it is still not an independent background check.
The date. A check is a snapshot. There is no expiry and no scheduled recheck: a profile is looked at again when something on it changes, or when someone reports a problem.

What does a verified matrimony profile mean on Evara?
It means the profile passed the checks every profile meets before it goes live: a selfie check that matches the member to their own approved photos, and every photo approved by a person. No. A background check investigates a person's history through outside sources. How long does verification take?
Photo checks are usually quick. Where our team needs a closer look, it can take a little longer, and we would rather be thorough than rushed.
Checking NRI and second marriage profiles
When the member lives abroad
A profile created in the United States, the UK or the Gulf goes through the same selfie check and photo approval as one created in Delhi, and the optional ID check matches the name and photograph against the government document the member provides.
What distance adds is a set of facts Evara does not check: employment abroad, visa and residency status, and whether there was an earlier marriage in another country. The Ministry of External Affairs booklet Marriages to Overseas Indians, in its chapter on verifying antecedents and documents, names these same particulars: marital status, employment details and immigration status. Our NRI matrimonial service treats visa and settlement plans as part of matching from the first conversation, which puts the subject on the table early, but seeing the documents before an alliance is agreed stays with the two families.
When one of you has been married before
Marital status is the family's own statement on every profile, and the photo check says nothing about it. For a second marriage that makes the divorce decree the document that matters: in India a divorce is granted by a court decree, and it is reasonable to ask to see it once both families are serious, just as they may ask to see yours. Evara is not a legal adviser and does not read or confirm a decree. Our second marriage service asks where the decree stands, and what the arrangement is for any children, at the first conversation, so both sides know the position before anyone meets.
Are profiles from Delhi checked differently from profiles abroad?
No. Every profile meets the same standard wherever the member lives, whether in Delhi, elsewhere in India or abroad. The team that does the checking works from one office in Delhi, and that office sets no limit on whose profile is checked.
How are NRI profiles checked when the member lives abroad?
The same way as profiles in India: the selfie check matches the member to their own approved photos, a person approves every photo, and the optional ID check matches name and photo to the document. Visa status, employment abroad and any earlier marriage are not verified by Evara, so ask about them openly and see the documents before an alliance is agreed. Does Evara confirm that a divorce is final?
No. Marital status is not verified, and Evara is not a legal adviser, so it does not read or confirm a divorce decree. Once both families are serious it is reasonable to ask to see the decree, and to offer your own documents in return. What happens if verification fails?
If something cannot be cleared, we reach out to clarify. Genuine mix-ups, like an outdated photo or a name spelling, are resolved easily. Deliberate misrepresentation means the profile does not move forward, and we do not compromise on this.
Is verification included on every plan?
Yes. Every profile, free or paid, is verified before it goes live, and its photos are approved by a person. Verification is part of the service, not a paid add-on.
How is this different from other platforms' verification badges?
A badge you opt into says only that somebody opted in. Here the selfie check and photo approval are the default, not a plan feature. Verified means the selfie check and photo approval are done. It is not a claim about identity or about any detail on the profile.
Can I see the verification status of profiles I'm introduced to?
Every profile you see has passed the selfie check, and its photos were approved by a person. Optional ID, video and income checks show as badges on the profile. On Select and Reserve, your relationship manager can talk you through what we have checked on request.
Does Evara run background checks on income, education or family?
No. Evara does not investigate education, employment or family background, and nothing is confirmed with an employer or an institution. How can a family check what Evara does not?
Ask for documents once both families are serious, speak to people who know the other family, meet at home, and treat an early video call as a start rather than proof. What should our family check, stage by stage?
Everything Evara does not verify is still worth verifying, and most of it rests on documents and people that only the two families can reach. Taking it in stages keeps it courteous, so nobody is asked for a certificate on the first call.
Before the first call. Run a reverse image search on the photographs, and read the profile for details that should agree with each other, such as the year of graduation against the stated age.
Before the families meet. Have a video call early and treat it as a start rather than proof. Ask about work and education in conversation, more than once, and notice whether the account stays the same.
Before anything is agreed. Ask for the documents, marital status first, then certificates and proof of employment, and offer your own in return. Meet the family at home, and speak to more than one person who knows them. If money is asked for at any stage, stop.
