This Privacy Policy explains how IW Services and Matrimonial Private Limited (CIN U56210DL2023PTC414515), which owns and operates Evara Matrimony ("Evara", "we", "us", "our"), collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal data. Evara Matrimony was formerly known as Imperial Weddings; it is the same company, renamed in 2024. This policy is aligned with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act"). Please also read our Terms of Use. For the purposes of the DPDP Act, Evara is the Data Fiduciary, and you, as the individual whose personal data we process, are the Data Principal.

1. Our commitment

Protecting your personal data is central to how we operate. We collect only what we need to provide a safe and effective matrimony service, and we process it for the purposes described in this policy.

2. The information we collect

Information you provide: profile and registration data, such as your name, gender, date of birth, contact details, education, profession, marital status, community, location, photographs, and partner preferences; sensitive personal data, such as identity documents and the photograph and facial image you submit for verification, which you provide with your consent for verification and for trust and safety; payment data, where you purchase a paid membership or service, which is processed by our payment partner, so we do not store your full card or bank details; communications, including messages you exchange with other Members through the Platform and information you share with the Evara team; and information you ask us to display, such as a success story or photographs.

Information from other sources: with your consent, or where permitted, we may receive information from referrals or matrimony-related sources to help connect you with a suitable match.

Usage data: information about how you use the Platform, including device and log information, collected to operate, secure, and improve the service.

3. How we use your information

We use your information to register and manage your account; to provide the service, including showing relevant matches and displaying your profile to other Members in line with your settings; to carry out identity and face verification; to process payments; to provide customer support; to communicate with you about your account, services, offers, and updates; to conduct research and analysis, including with automated and machine-learning techniques, to improve and secure our services; and to comply with applicable law. We process your personal data on the basis of the consent you provide when you register and use the Platform, and on other lawful bases recognised under the DPDP Act. You warrant that the personal data you provide is accurate and current.

By providing your information and using the Platform, you consent to the processing described in this policy. You can manage what you share with other Members through your privacy settings. You may withdraw your consent at any time by writing to us or by deleting your account; where you withdraw consent, we may no longer be able to provide the service, and withdrawal does not affect processing already carried out or processing we are required by law to continue.

5. How we share your information

We do not sell or rent your personal data. We share it only as follows: with other Members, to the extent needed to provide the service and in line with your privacy settings; with service providers and partners who help us run the Platform, such as hosting, payment processing, communications, analytics, and verification providers, under confidentiality and data-protection obligations and only as needed to perform services for us; and with law enforcement or other authorities where required by law, or where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to comply with legal process or to protect the rights, safety, and interests of our Members, the public, or Evara.

6. Data retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, and thereafter for as long as required to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When data is no longer required, we delete or anonymise it.

7. Your rights as a Data Principal

Subject to the DPDP Act, you have the right to access a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how we process it; to seek correction, completion, updating, or erasure of your personal data; to grievance redressal; and to nominate another individual to exercise your rights in the event of death or incapacity. To exercise any of these rights, contact our Grievance Officer using the details below. Some data may be retained where the law requires.

8. How we secure your information

We follow accepted industry standards to protect your personal data, including encryption of sensitive information such as payment data in transit. Access to your personal data within Evara is restricted to those who need it to perform their role. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and while we work to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children

The Platform is intended only for persons aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect or process the personal data of children. If we learn that we have done so, we will delete it.

10. Counting, cookies, and advertising

There are three separate things in this section. One is us counting how our own pages are used. Another is Google Analytics, which counts visits to our pages. The third is advertising by Meta. They are not the same thing. For members, all three run under the consent given at sign-up. For visitors who have not signed up, they run from the first page you open. None of them stops to ask you again, and you can switch Google Analytics and Meta off yourself at any time.

Counting our own pages. On this website we do not count pages on our own servers. Microsoft Clarity does this counting for us instead. It records how our pages are used, such as clicks and scrolling, so that we can fix confusing pages. Because what it records is about your visit, the same switch that turns off Meta ads and Google Analytics turns it off too.

Google Analytics. We also use Google Analytics and Google Merchant Center, through Google Tag Manager, to count visits to our pages. Google Analytics has Google's advertising features switched on. Google is told which of our pages you opened and the page you came from, including the page address. This website has no member profiles and no conversations, so no page address here carries a member's or a conversation's reference. Google also receives general details of your browser and device, and an approximate location worked out from your internet address. It never receives your name, email address, phone number or photographs. This website has no search filters, so nothing you might filter by, such as religion, community, caste, sub-caste or gotra, can reach Google from here. It does load on our pages written for one community, such as those under /communities/, and Google sees their address as it sees any other page.

Advertising by Meta. This starts on the first page you open, without asking. For members, it is part of the consent you gave when you signed up. We let Meta know you visited, so we can show you Evara ads on Facebook and Instagram. We also let Meta know one thing more: that you sent us an enquiry, without what you wrote. On this website, what the switch covers is the Meta code on our pages. We send nothing from our own servers to Meta, and payment happens in our members' app, not here. When you arrive from a link that carries click tags or campaign labels, which include fbclid and gclid, we keep them on your device whether or not the switch is off, so that we can tell which advertisement or link led to an enquiry or a sign-up. They travel with an enquiry you send us and with the links from here to our members' app. Switching it off costs you nothing. Every part of Evara works the same, and every price is the same, whichever you choose.

What Meta never gets. We never send Meta anything from your profile. Not your name, not your photographs, not your contact details, not your partner preferences. What you write in an enquiry stays with us. This website has no search filters, so none can reach Meta. Our pages written for one community, such as those under /communities/, do load the Meta code, and Meta sees their address as it sees any other page.

Cookies. This website has no sign-in, so it needs no cookie to keep you signed in. The one cookie it sets itself remembers, for a week, that you closed the notice at the top of the page. If you switch Meta ads and Google Analytics off, we record that on your device, so the switch stays off on your next visit in this browser. There is no account on this website, so we keep no record of the switch with Evara. Meta sets cookies of its own, from the first page you open. Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity set cookies of their own as well. All three stop using them from the next page you open once you switch them off.

Changing your mind. There is one switch. It sits at the very bottom of this page, and the same switch also opens from Choose what we track in the footer of our pages. One tap turns Meta ads and Google Analytics off in this browser, from the next page you open. There is one gap we have not closed yet. On ten older articles in our Journal, Google Tag Manager still loads after you switch off. It is told that the switch is off, but Google can still learn that you opened those articles. Once they are off, there is no switch anywhere in Evara to turn them back on, so if you want them on again, please write to us and we will tell you how to clear the choice saved in your browser. This is not the same route as section 4. Section 4 covers the consent you give for matchmaking and for the rest of this policy, and that one you withdraw by writing to us or by deleting your account. Turning Meta ads and Google Analytics off needs neither a letter nor a deleted account.

Turning off ad targeting outside Evara. You can also limit targeted advertising in general. Meta names two places for this: http://www.aboutads.info/choices and http://www.youronlinechoices.eu/. You can change your ad settings inside Facebook and Instagram as well. Those controls belong to Meta and to the advertising industry bodies, not to us, so we cannot change them on your behalf.

Who is involved. Where advertising tools are used, third parties, including Meta, collect information about your visit and use it to target and deliver ads to you. Two other things on our pages come from outside Evara and are not used for counting or advertising. The search box fetches its search code from jsDelivr when you use it, and the map on our contact page comes from Google Maps. Those companies see your internet address and which of our pages asked for them, and we send them nothing else. Apart from those, and the companies that host this website for us under section 5, here is everyone outside Evara who receives anything, and what each one receives.

  • Meta. Runs from your first page, and stops from the next page you open once you switch it off. Facebook and Instagram advertising. Meta is told that you visited, and, if you send us an enquiry, that you sent one. Nothing from your profile and nothing you write in an enquiry ever reaches Meta.
  • Sentry. Runs for everyone, and is not part of advertising. Sentry records technical faults, such as a page failing to load, so that we can fix them. It carries no advertising data and is never used to target ads. We keep it running for everyone because a broken page helps nobody.
  • Google Analytics and Google Merchant Center. Run from your first page, through Google Tag Manager, and stop from the next page you open once you switch them off, except on the ten older Journal articles described above. Google is told which of our pages you opened. Nothing from your profile reaches Google, and this website has no filters, so no religion, community, caste, sub-caste or gotra you might filter by ever does. We do not use PostHog, Vercel Analytics or Vercel Speed Insights.
  • Microsoft Clarity. Runs from your first page and stops from the next page you open once you switch it off. It records how pages are used, such as clicks and scrolling, so that we can fix confusing pages. Nothing from your profile reaches Microsoft.
