This Privacy Policy explains how IW Services and Matrimonial Private Limited (CIN U56210DL2023PTC414515), which owns and operates Evara Matrimony ("Evara", "we", "us", "our"), collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal data. Evara Matrimony was formerly known as Imperial Weddings; it is the same company, renamed in 2024. This policy is aligned with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act"). Please also read our Terms of Use. For the purposes of the DPDP Act, Evara is the Data Fiduciary, and you, as the individual whose personal data we process, are the Data Principal.
1. Our commitment
Protecting your personal data is central to how we operate. We collect only what we need to provide a safe and effective matrimony service, and we process it for the purposes described in this policy.
2. The information we collect
Information you provide: profile and registration data, such as your name, gender, date of birth, contact details, education, profession, marital status, community, location, photographs, and partner preferences; sensitive personal data, such as identity documents and the photograph and facial image you submit for verification, which you provide with your consent for verification and for trust and safety; payment data, where you purchase a paid membership or service, which is processed by our payment partner, so we do not store your full card or bank details; communications, including messages you exchange with other Members through the Platform and information you share with the Evara team; and information you ask us to display, such as a success story or photographs.
Information from other sources: with your consent, or where permitted, we may receive information from referrals or matrimony-related sources to help connect you with a suitable match.
Usage data: information about how you use the Platform, including device and log information, collected to operate, secure, and improve the service.
3. How we use your information
We use your information to register and manage your account; to provide the service, including showing relevant matches and displaying your profile to other Members in line with your settings; to carry out identity and face verification; to process payments; to provide customer support; to communicate with you about your account, services, offers, and updates; to conduct research and analysis, including with automated and machine-learning techniques, to improve and secure our services; and to comply with applicable law. We process your personal data on the basis of the consent you provide when you register and use the Platform, and on other lawful bases recognised under the DPDP Act. You warrant that the personal data you provide is accurate and current.
4. Your consent and your choices
By providing your information and using the Platform, you consent to the processing described in this policy. You can manage what you share with other Members through your privacy settings. You may withdraw your consent at any time by writing to us or by deleting your account; where you withdraw consent, we may no longer be able to provide the service, and withdrawal does not affect processing already carried out or processing we are required by law to continue.
5. How we share your information
We do not sell or rent your personal data. We share it only as follows: with other Members, to the extent needed to provide the service and in line with your privacy settings; with service providers and partners who help us run the Platform, such as hosting, payment processing, communications, analytics, and verification providers, under confidentiality and data-protection obligations and only as needed to perform services for us; and with law enforcement or other authorities where required by law, or where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to comply with legal process or to protect the rights, safety, and interests of our Members, the public, or Evara.
6. Data retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, and thereafter for as long as required to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When data is no longer required, we delete or anonymise it.
7. Your rights as a Data Principal
Subject to the DPDP Act, you have the right to access a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how we process it; to seek correction, completion, updating, or erasure of your personal data; to grievance redressal; and to nominate another individual to exercise your rights in the event of death or incapacity. To exercise any of these rights, contact our Grievance Officer using the details below. Some data may be retained where the law requires.
8. How we secure your information
We follow accepted industry standards to protect your personal data, including encryption of sensitive information such as payment data in transit. Access to your personal data within Evara is restricted to those who need it to perform their role. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and while we work to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children
The Platform is intended only for persons aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect or process the personal data of children. If we learn that we have done so, we will delete it.
10. Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Platform, remember your preferences, and understand and improve usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Where we make a material change, we will take reasonable steps to notify you, including by email where appropriate. We keep this policy under regular review.
